This morning was a morning to do some well needed jobs, including our washing!! It had been some time since we had visited a laundry, I think we’ll keep those details to ourselves though!! We head to the landromat and got the job done for 3eruo!! A bargain!! And because of the hot weather, instead of paying for them to dry them aswel, we took them home and hung them around our hostel room!! They’ll be dry in no time!!
This morning we decided to check out the West side of Rome and once again pay a visit to the Pope in the Vatican City. On the way we
checked out a Gelatto store who claimed to have the most flavours in the world…the were right. We headed inside to be greeted with over 100 flavours of both Gelatto and Mousse!! Yum!! We couldnt resist, Jax had Melon and Lemon and Jordan tried out the Fragola and Chocie!! I had a feeling we would return…I just didnt know how soon!!
We then headed up to the Vatican City via some small markets that we stumbed upon and ate our lunch in St Peters square. Our main mission of the day was to walk the stairs to the top of St Peters Basillica. After re-fuelling we started our trek of 551 stairs!! Half way up we were able to head inside the dome of the cathedral which gave an awesmoe view inside, before continuing up the now sloping (to the right!) staircase around the dome to the top. The climb invloved ropes, ladders and stairs but was well worth it with awesome views over the city. Lucky for us we had an over enthusiastic Dad lecture his kids of where everything was, so we stood close by for our free tour!!
We went back to the Gelatto store…thats right twice in one day. This time we tried the selection of Mousse, which was delcious, but not the best for such a hot day as it just made us more thirsty!! By this stage we were getting used to drinking hot water from sitting inside our bag…we should really add a teabag and have a cup of tea!!
Guess what…for dinner we had the Free Pasta. Im kind of glad it is our last….for a long time. We ended the day by heading to the supermarket to stock up as tommorrow we were embarking on a ferry ride. Not just any Ferry but a Ferry lasting 22 hours…Cant wait!!
