It was finally time for the first ever Bull Run at Pamplona!! This morning we got up at 5:00am to get our places in town for the 8:00am Bull Run. Our hearts were pumping and we were getting nervous….and we werent even running!!
This morning we headed to the famous Bull Ring to see the Bulls chase the runners into the crowded ring. After some wheeling and dealing with a ticket scalper we had brought some tickets and headed inside for the main event!!
Then we heard the cannon being fired at the start of the run and we knew within a couple of minutes the Bull Ring would be filled with people and being chased by the Bulls…but infact the first runner appeared after only a second…and got booed by the crowd!
Once all the runners and the bulls were in the ring the carnage began…smaller bulls were let into the ring to cause damage to the runners…this was awesome, kind of like the NZ Rodeo on stereroids!! The carnage continued for about an hour…and later were told we had just witnessed the worst Bull Run in 8 years with 2 people killed and 9 injured….should we run tommorrow??
Later that day we headed back to camp to down some more Sangria!! The tour group we were travelling with put on this HUGE BBQ with fantastic food and all you can drink Sangria…we both never saw the bottom of our cups as the team keep filling up our cups…we gave them a good run for their money though, drinking them out of Sangria…all you can drink??!! Yeah right!!
….we now hate Sangria….
