Today was our first day in the fashion capital of the world – so we decided to check out the shops and also had a date with the world famous ‘Last Supper Painting’.
We first headed to the Milan Duomo (Cathedral) which is really the main centre to town and all the shops and malls are off this. This building was just incredible and probely the most impressive cathedral we have seen from the outside!!
After a walk around the cathedral in the heat we decided to retreat indoors into one of the hundreds of Milans fancy shopping centres!! These contained all the big labels but we still wanted to check out these labels own stores aswell…we are in Milan afterall!!
We got hungry…and sadly fell into the temptation of having McDonalds!! The drawcard was there new 1 euro menu which filled us up for 5 euros!! What a bargain!!
Next on the list was heading down to check out the ‘Last Supper’ paninting!! This was a fair walk away from the town centreso we had to get our wlking shoes on. On arrival the doors were closed…with a sign in Itlian!! We saw the number 1500 in there so firgued it said something about opening up again at 3:00pm – so we waited around with all the other hundreds of tourists.
While wainting at the doors we noticed what a simple building this iconic building was in…nothing fancy here – it just looked like some guys house!!
Finally the doors opened and the hundreds of tourists rushed to the doors, pushing and pulling to see the painting!! A massive line was created and soon enough we learned that they only let 25 people an hour…at this stage we knew we had no chance!! We left the mob to fight their way in and can now say we saw the building which holds the most famous and hard too see painting in the world!!
Long story short we didnt see the Last Supper…you have to have a reservation that have to be reserved at least 6 weeks earlier, due to them only allowing 20 people in at a time!! Still we can say we saw the building that houses the ‘Last Supper’!!
