…thats right, we’re still on the ferry!!
We woke this morning to a sunrise…and a bunch of people watching us sleep as they ate there breakfast. We guess they were interested to see how the ‘less fortunate’ sleep! Jokes on them though as soon the sun was shining and we were already on the sun loungers and ready to relax the day away!!
We ate our packed beakfast (lucky we did as the boat was VERY overpriced!!) and sat on deck as we cruised to the Greek port of Patras.
Of course we arrived late into Greece, catching a bus from the bus station at 1515 and heading into the city of Athens!! After 3 hours of sleeping on the bus we arrived at one of the most chaotic bus stations we have ever witnessed!! There were buses everywhere, no order, and strong disel fumes. WELCOME TO ATHENS!!
Problem is we didnt know how to get to our hostel as we didnt know where we were!! So we jumped on the only local bus and hoped that it would take us close to the metro (as thats what everyone else was doing. When in doubt follow the backpacks!!). It worked, and soon we were on the metro heading for Syntagma Square, the centre of Athens and only a short walk to our hostel!!
We were so gald to see a bed!! We stunk…bad…no showers for about 72 hours! Despite this, we were hungry and headed into the city for some home comfort also knowen as Maccas!! Bring on the 1 Euro Menu!!
Before heading home we walked around the stunning ‘Plaka’ area of the city, packed full of shops, markets, resturants and bars. We met some other travelers later that night, shared stories, but before long decided to call it a night. We were in desperate need of a bed…but first things first..we had a shower!!
