Today we were about to leave Croatia after a lazy week and head up to the adventure capital of Europe…and place called Bled in Slovenia!
The morning was mainly spent travelling as we caught a bus up through Croatia and in to the tiny country that is Slovenia. On the way we stopped at Ljubljana, described to us as Slovenia’s Venice. It had one canal – so we walked away disappointed. Not for long though as soon we found the wonderful Lake Bled.
Coming over the hills and first seeing this lake really does take your breath away! Its an amazing place! Bled consisted of a VERY small village and a MASSIVE lake – and the best adventure sports in the whole of Europe!
We were dropped near our place for the next two nights – a fantastic place with awesome wooden apartments! This was real living! The best bit for Jordan and the boys had to be on the Jazz Bar that was around the corner with the CHEAPEST Beer we had ever seen. Tonight could be fun!
Before we got stuck into the drinks and socialising – we had to have a walk around the fantastic Lake Bled. The water was like glass and the air so fresh! Really felt like home again! We took some fantastic shots of the Church in the middle of the massive lake and the castle way up on the cliffs. The whole lake was surrounded by amazing mountains and forest – just like in the movies!
After walking back to our apartment – we joined the rest of the crew and went out to a local diner for dinner. The food was nice and even nicest was the hospitality. As in like many places in Europe – the owner of the restaurant all gave us a shot of Grappa (a VERY strong wine) – which is a sign of good times and a good meal! This just started the night as we then headed back to the Jazz bar for a night on the cheap beer. Even our budget could afford a couple of these! WE couldn’t stay out long though – as a day of adventure was to be had tommorrow….
