Safari Day Four!!!

6 01 2009

Its our last day Game Spotting – and this morning we were in Lake Nakuru – known for its fantastic birds, pink flamingos that line the lake, and other fantastic wildlife!

We were off again after a quick breakfast and while driving into the park were greeted by a group of Baboons straight away! After one turn we then crawled up on a Lion lounging out on a tree catching some shade from the morning sun! An amazing start to the day, with the cameras already starting to flash!

Around the roads we soon spotted more buffalos, zebras and lots of Baboons that stood along the side of the road. We then headed down to the lakeside where we spotted our first White Rhino – a massive animal that sauntered across the dried up lake bed! Aong the lake front we saw lots of Pink Flamingos lining up in the shallow water – and Big John allowed us to get out of the truck to walk towards them and get some amazing photos! While walking we found some Leopard footprints – so after taking the pics, jumped back in the truck to try and find him!!

Sadly we had no luck finding the Leopard – but did spot some lounging White Rhinos on the way up to the Baboon Cliff which overlooks the complete park – an amazing view that is well worth the visit! We were allowed out of the van to take photos and check out the baboons that littered the look out! Soon enough one of the baboons jumped the fence to check our the trucks parked at the look out – and chose our van to check out! Jordan grabbed his camera to start filming the action – what we didnt know was that the baboon untied Jax`s bag that was tied to the head rest of the drivers seat and then jumped out with the bag in hand!! We all quickley chased the baboon with the bag into the bush – we thought it was a goner! Luckily the Baboon was just after the food in the bag – so he dropped the bag and took the packet of biscuits out before fleeing far into the bush!

Our Safari adventure was over! It was time to go back home! We grabed some more food as Big John got the truck repaired (again!) before we hit the road on the way back to Kimuka and our village….
