We arrived yesterday in the city of Cleveland after an overnight bus journey on the Greyhound network. There were no complaints from the trip – we managed to secure some brilliant seats with some great legroom. Sure the trip had its moments, like when Jordan was stopped in the men`s bathrooms in Pittsburgh, from a former inmate from Eastern Penitentiary. He was on the run and needed money for the bus. It was a good story – but Jordan managed to talk his way out of what could have been an awkward situation!
On arrival in Cleveland, Ohio, we spent the remainder of the day showering and resting. Cleveland seemed such a sleepy town compared to the cities that we had travelled from, and as we are boarding a bus this evening for Chicago we didn’t plan on much site seeing.
We did have one visit on the cards while in Cleveland, and that was a visit to the world famous `Rock and Roll Hall of Fame`. After paying the hefty entrance charge (of $22 for general admission), we went about the 6 floors of the museum in search of great music memorabilia.
In a nut shell you can describe the `Hall of Fame` as a Hard Rock Cafe on steroids! There were some amazing items on display, including Michael Jackson`s silver glove and Red Jacket from the `Thriller` music video, to John Lennon’s personal piano! This truly was an amazing place with some great exhibitions; there were costumes, guitars, cars and personal written documents from hundreds of popular artists.
Sadly the use of cameras were not permitted in the museum due to the fact that the collections on display are owned mostly by private owners (or maybe they just want more tourists to play the hefty admission charge!) so we were unable to snap any pictures of some of our favourite items on display.
We spent the entire day at the `Hall of Fame`, but couldn’t stay for long. We had another bus to catch as we headed for our next destination in Chicago!
