We LOVE Ancona, Italy!

14 08 2008

Surprise surprise, we had a great nights sleep under the stars of our sun loungers!! Oh the life of the rich and famous!!

We ate breakfast (apples), then sunbaked, read our books (Yes Jordan is still reading at this point), went to the toilet, and then made marmite sammies for lunch. Yes, this is how fun it is on a 22 hour ferry!!

When we docked in Italy at Ancona, we were stoked to find cheap luggae storagge…we then found out why it was so cheap…ANCONA IS CRAP! Talk about a ghost town…not even the locals knew where the centre of the city was! Our next ferry didnt leave until 9:00pm that evening so we had the day to fill in…

….we went for a walk…to know-where…

We did however find a Pizza parlour open that evening managed to get some nice Itlian Pizza, despite our bag getting pissed on by a passing dog…CAN OUR DAY GET ANY BETTER?!!!

We were glad to get on the ferry…until we got on the ferry and saw that it was terrible. I know we sound like we are complaining all the time now, but when a ferry charges 2.50 Euro for a small water you know something is wrong. We spent the night with some Aussies, before sleeping upright over our bags. Oh the life…can we start our holiday yet??!!….

At least we’ll be in Croatia tommorrow!! Yay!

Transfer Day…By Ferry!

31 07 2008

We werent looking forward to today. The plan of attack is to eat Breakfast at the hostel, catch a train departing at 9:38am to Ancona on the Italian Coast. We’ll then catch a bus to the port and get on our ferry to depart from Ancona at 1600. So far everything ran according to plan as before we knew it we were onboard the ferry, sunbaking on the sun loungers/beds we had scored on the top deck and chatting to the new friends from NZ that we made.

Chatting to the NZ’s soon turned into drinks and then a party on the deck complete with crazy Itlians!!

The ferry was large and smooth so didnt prove a problem…it was just a long journey including one night on board. As we didnt pay for a cabin we got out our sleeping bags and slept on the sun loungers on deck…..
