As we write this you will have all celebrated your New Years back home in NZ – the countdown for us is still on – tonight were planning on joining the estimated 345,000 people at the London Eye and Westminster for the London New Years Fireworks!!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas – ours was fantastic!! Nothing better than chucking on your thickest coat and wandering the streets of Paris!!
After a VERY early flight on Christmas Eve we arrived in Paris bright and early and ready to check out the city!! The stops included the world famous Louvre museum, where we walked the miles of corridors, and met with the Mona Lisa!! Awesome to see the pyramids as you enter the museum – felt like the Da Vinci Code!!
We made many trips down the awesome Champs Elyse which was fantastic (especially lit up at nighttime!!) And headed up the Eiffel Tower. I was very surprised how tall this building was – and was blown away by the view at the top!! The lines were a problem though – we lined up in the afternoon, but by the time we arrived at the top it was nighttime!! Still looked fantastic!!
After the Eiffel tower we than wandered down to the Notre Dame Cathedral where we checked out a Mass service (how Christmasy!) which was fantastic. Christmas Eve ended with a long and tiring walk back to our hotel!!
Christmas Day was great – after exchanging gifts we headed off again for Day Two of Paris – we headed back to the Eiffel Tower for some daylight shots and to eat lunch!! We then had a look around the busy Paris streets (yes even on Christmas) and headed back to the hotel to prepare for Christmas Dinner at the Moulin Rouge!!
What a fantastic show!! Lots of costumes, lights heaps of fun and certainly a different way to spend Christmas Dinner with strangers!!
Boxing Day was spent back at the Notre Dame cathedral for a proper look around, followed by ice skating in central Paris and some shopping!! The malls were huge with massive window and light displays!!
